Hey everyone!
It's been a while, I know...
I've been taken it easy for the first quarter of this year, not so many gigs (which was nice for a change) and I even took a well deserved vacation, two weeks in California with a friend. I love California! Seriously. My first time there. I can still taste the fresh Guacamole. I bought a new guitar, or should I say an old guitar... A Guild Starfire II '66 with a Bigsby installed, if you must know. I wish I could play it. I'm learning, though.
What else is new? I did a tour in Finland with Ilmiliekki Quartet and I also played a short solo piano jazz set every
night. Boy, was I nervous before the first gig, I've never really played solo piano concerts, except in lounge-cocktailbar-wallpaper-type of situations. But it went ok, I guess. It was all recorded (real lo-fi), I'll have to listen someday.
I've been getting a lot of requests for featuring on different artists records... I wish I had time to do them all, people keep sending me these cool beats and I just don't have the time to write and record for all of them. Anyway, I try my best and I just recorded vocal tracks for two very different projects:

But let's get down to business. I've started working on a new album. We've recorded the basic tracks for six songs now and I don't know when we'll continue... I'm not in any hurry, I think the album will come out late this year or early next year. The funny thing is that I've written loads of songs since the release of the first album, but I'm having kind of a hard time deciding which songs to record for the album. Maybe the problem is that I love to write ballads, but I don't want to make this into a ballad album. I'm thinking that maybe after this I'll do a really stripped down folksy singer/songwriter album. But the album I'm working on now is a bit different. It's still soul music, I guess... Hmmm. Maybe I shouldn't talk about it too much, it seems that I don't have any idea so far. Come to my gigs and you might hear some of the new songs. But I DO have a working title! (drumroll) Tuomo "Reaches out for you". Haha. I like it.
